Please welcome our new art teacher, Ms Emily Taibleson. We are very excited to be working with her this year.
How long have you worked at White Pass
I was hired as the new art teacher on August 12th 2021. School started August 30th 2021. It has been a real whirlwind but it feels kismet. I am so happy and excited to be here. Thank you for having me!
What College did you go to
At 18 I moved across the country to attend an art school in New England called the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, Rhode Island. During that time I also studied for nine months in Rome, Italy. I majored in Painting. Seven years later I went to graduate school for a Masters of Fine Art in Painting & Drawing from the University of Washington in Seattle. I graduated in 2019.
What do you value most?
Quality & Time.
Best memory at White Pass
The second week of school a student stopped me in the hallway and said, "Hey Ms. Taibleson, I was a real snot to you the first day of school and I am sorry." I did not recall that student being a snot at all! It was so earnest-- I don't think I'll ever forget that.
Most memorable student
First I have to memorize your names! I now know most of the names of students that I have in my classes. It's hard with masks on! I'm close though. Curious who I haven't met yet...feel free to come introduce yourself to me during FLEX or whenever you see me around :)
