Our school is participating in the Washington State Healthy Youth Survey on November 6 and 7. The survey will be given to students in grades 6 through 12.

The survey is used to identify and monitor factors that affect the health of youth in Washington. The Healthy Youth Survey has been conducted across the state since 2002.

Survey results can reveal changes in health behaviors over time, and schools can use the data to identify key areas of need.

The Healthy Youth Survey includes questions about physical activity, unintentional and intentional injuries, substance use, interpersonal relationships, school experiences, risk and protective factors, and access to school-based services. Survey results are used by schools, communities, and state agencies to plan programs that support youth and reduce their risks.

Participation in the survey is voluntary; no student is required to answer any question with which they do not feel comfortable, and steps are taken to ensure the privacy of all students.

White Pass School District Participates in the Great Washington ShakeOut

Major earthquakes can cause unprecedented catastrophes. With earthquakes as an inevitable part of our future, schools should make plans and take actions to ensure that disasters do not become catastrophes. What we do now will determine what our lives will be like afterwards. The principles practiced during the ShakeOut apply not only to earthquakes but to many other hazards we may face in the Pacific Northwest.

On Thursday, October 16, White Pass School District joined millions of participants across Washington in the annual Great Washington ShakeOut, a statewide earthquake preparedness drill. Students and staff at both the Elementary and Jr./Sr. High Schools practiced the lifesaving actions of “Drop, Cover, and Hold On.” This simple yet powerful safety technique helps protect individuals during seismic events by encouraging everyone to drop to the ground, take cover under a sturdy desk or table, and hold on until the shaking stops.

Following the initial drill, both campuses used the opportunity to evacuate their buildings and review safety and accountability procedures. This hands-on practice allows students and staff to reinforce their understanding of emergency response plans, ensuring that everyone knows what to do and where to go in the event of an earthquake or other emergency.

Preparedness is key to safety. These drills remind us that the actions we take today build the confidence and readiness needed to keep our students and staff safe tomorrow.

The White Pass School District remains committed to ensuring that all students and staff are well prepared to respond calmly and effectively in any emergency situation. Together, we’re building a culture of readiness—one drill at a time.

Open Letter to the White Pass School District Community

September 17, 2025

Dear White Pass Families,

We want to inform you that today’s Junior High Volleyball game scheduled at Mossyrock has been cancelled. Mossyrock School District closed school today due to suspicious activity near their campus. The game will be rescheduled at a later date.

Instead, there will be Junior High Volleyball practice at White Pass from 3:00–5:00 p.m. today.

Please be assured that the White Pass School District remains safe. Out of an abundance of caution, we have reviewed our safety protocols. Our administration, transportation, maintenance staff, along with the Randle Fire Department are actively conducting sweeps of our school buildings and surrounding areas.

We want to emphasize that there has been no suspicious activity in the White Pass School District. All staff and students are safe. Still, when a neighboring district faces a potential safety concern, we always take the extra step to ensure the well-being of our own community.

We will continue to provide updates as needed. Thank you for your trust and support as we work together to keep our schools safe and positive places for learning and growth.

Sincerely,
Greggery Teel
