Student Poetry

Here are a few poem from a couple  of our very talented students. Enjoy and encourage others to read and write this summer!

Poison

You take a sip of  liquid that seems to be clear

Knowing not what is to happen, you began to fear

You pace around the room, legs moving fast

Waiting frantically as the minutes begin to pass

The clock is loud while singing its song

Tik-Tok, Tik-Tok how long will this go on

You prepare yourself for the worst, maybe even death

Why did you take the drink, here comes your last breath

You slow down your pacing and begin to feel sick

Dread builds in your stomach, and the same bottle you pick

You search around  for a label as the feeling gets hotter

Than you notice one word that changes it all,  WATER

You think to yourself  oh my goodness I thought I was dead

Turned out these thoughts of death and poison were all in my head

3.

Don’t grow up too fast they say

I don’t think they realize we can’t control time

We don’t want to grow up we want to stay

Eventually we’ll say our days for a dime

But for now we wanna swim

This is the summer for us

Can’t we just stay and the game we’ll win?

Let’s just hope it’s not a bust

Enjoy your days in school

Hug your family and friends they won’t always be there

Long days lead to nights in the pool

These are the days we’ll remember i swear

Don’t grow up to fast

Or your spend the rest of the days in the past

Stuck in a bottle

I wake up and im trapped

I can see me in the walls

Among that I see hands

Two,  small like a dolls

Past each finger I can see grass and I see trees

I must be outside but I don't feel a breeze

I place a hand on the wall and it touches back

I begin to get frightened as I here a loud crack

The human jumps and I begin to fall

I squeal in terror and I lose it all

The second my walls hit the ground

I spread my wings and try to get around

Through the glass and out of sight

I fly faster than the fastest butterfly

1

The broken toy in the hall

 An ancient cat

A young girls abandoned doll.

Now they fly or fall

Their sons busted bat

Once a shattered mirror laid in the hall

The kids argued a lot in all

He hasn’t played baseball since grade school

Never does the girl think of her old doll

The children are no longer small

No more needing to be babysat

Pictures of the kids growing up line the hall

Now mom and dad sit around and wait for them to call

They grew up, life just works like that

Mother keeps the sentimental doll

Their off at college having a ball

Maybe the parents should adopt a new cat

Soon new babies face will be in frames in the hall

then there will be a new doll
