Dear Parent or Guardian:
We wanted to communicate to you that we received a report this afternoon that one of our bus drivers reported seeing a baby bear on Route 5 near Boyd Road. We alerted the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. Staff from WDFW are tracking all reports coming in. They gladly accept phone calls to address any questions you may have and take reports of any additional sightings or incidents.
Please take this opportunity to visit the Fish and Wildlife website, wdfw.wa.gov, to review some general reminders regarding bears. In the meantime, here are some key points to remember:
- Don’t leave pet food or any food outside your house.
- Secure garbage cans.
- Put trash cans out only on the day of pickup.
- Take down bird feeders.
