August 3, 2020

Dear Staff, Families, Students and Community.

The past few months the district has been collaborating with families and staff. We have identified a number of possibilities on how to open the school year. These possibilities include:

  • Bring all students and staff back to school
  • A hybrid model of face to face instruction and online learning
  • Home-Link, a newly created program in our district, which will allow our parents and        guardians the opportunity to provide an online program to their child with support from the  district
  • Continuous learning 2.0.

It is our hope that students will be able to resume to face to face in person instruction as soon as possible. The staff and I miss the students, and we know that students want to be back at school. However, the situation regarding COVID-19 is one that continues to evolve and change.

Today the Lewis County Department of Health published a letter to all school districts in Lewis County which strongly recommends that all districts in Lewis County start the 2020 – 2021 school year with full distance learning.

Given this latest recommendation from the Department of Health, your district is now navigating the NEW Department of Health information together with previous guidance provided by the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction.

It is anticipated that the instructional model for the reopening of White Pass schools will be provided the week of August 10 – 14, 2020.

We know that there are many questions about the fall. We will continue to work through this together and communicate along the way. I appreciate your understanding as we again navigate through Covid impacts to determine our initial Fall re-opening school model.

Sincerely,

Dr. Paul Farris,

Superintendent

White Pass School District
