-Greeting and Salutations

Take a moment, breathe, and realize – you made it. What a rodeo ride this year has been. You have been bucked by Covid-19, nationwide protests, election-year rhetoric, and a continually changing world- but you have endured. You have pressed on and continued your learning and growth regardless of the obstacles. The staff and I are amazed and gratified by your T-Wolf Grit and Gumption.  You give us hope and peace because your resiliency allows us to know things will continue, and we will get back to normal. Thank you, students, for all your hard work this year.

Likewise, behind every incredible student is a parent, guardian, caregiver, and champion. You did the impossible. When school released in March, you picked up the mantle of instruction and continued to educate your child.  You labored and sacrificed your sanity and time to engage your kids in the “new math,” to set up the “Zoom Sessions,” and to recheck that multiple page writing assignment. The staff and I are grateful for your help and dedication in ensuring that your student continued to receive a quality education during our Covid-19 closure.

Moreover, the White Pass School District could not have met the challenge presented by Covid-19 without its dedicated, dependable, and dynamic staff. Every employee adapted and enhanced their skill set to meet the needs of our students. The teachers redesigned how and where they taught. The paraprofessionals tackled each new task willingly. The maintenance and custodial staff worked diligently to keep us safe. The kitchen staff prepped and prepared thousands of meals for our community kids. The entire team contributed to ensuring that each student’s education kept moving forward. Thank you, teachers, classified, bus drivers, secretaries, librarians, counselors, custodians, maintenance, department directors, administrators, and volunteers for making our endeavor successful.

Finally, behind every great school is a supportive community. The communities of Packwood, Randle, and Glenoma have supported and advocated for our students. They have allowed us to use their property for food and schoolwork delivery, they have volunteered their time and expertise to assist school staff, and they have celebrated our Senior Class. Thank you for everything!

In closing, we end one adventure and start another. The White Pass Administrative Team, Teaching Team, and Safety Team will be working hard through the summer, preparing for Fall instruction. Together, we will be working on plans and systems to keep kids safe and instruction continuing. Please check out our website and social media accounts often for updated information. It has been my honor to serve you, and I look forward to the year to come.

Sincerely,

Mr. Schumaker

Jr. Sr. High School Principal
